Miquel earned her Master’s in Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009. She immediately began working as a full-time school counselor while maintaining a part-time mental health counseling. In 2017, she transitioned into full-time clinical mental health counseling. Throughout her career, Miquel has supported children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, clinical, and educational environments.
As a versatile clinician, Miquel offers individual, family, and parent-child counseling. Her extensive experience includes supporting clients with neurodevelopmental and behavioral needs like ADHD, autism, and learning issues, as well as managing emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Additionally, she provides specialized care for trauma, crisis intervention, LGBTQ+, parenting challenges, infertility, grief, and major life transitions.
Miquel utilizes cognitive behavioral and solution focused therapies most regularly, adjusting with the needs of her clients’ needs. Miquel believes in guiding her clients in making positive change for themselves, building their coping strategies and support systems to become more successful independently.
When Miquel has free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening, reading, sewing, volunteering, traveling, learning, exercising, and cheering on the Hawkeyes and children at sporting events.
