Kayla Orr, LISW

Kayla Orr is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) with over a decade of clinical experience, working with clients across all age groups.  

She began her career after earning her undergraduate degree in psychology from Coe College in 2010. She pursued her master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Social Work. 

Her extensive background also includes working in inpatient hospital psychiatric units and facilitating outpatient groups, individual, and family therapy sessions.

Kayla has experience addressing a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis intervention, parent-child relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

Kayla uses a strengths-based, client-centered approach, collaborating with individuals and families to identify the most effective treatment strategies for their unique needs.

Kayla offers a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals during some of life's most difficult experiences, as well as everyday challenges. Kayla believes in meeting clients where they are, highlighting their strengths, and helping them develop new coping skills to manage emotional challenges and foster resilience.

She holds training in several evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Crisis Intervention.

Additionally, Kayla is currently pursuing supervision and training to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).

  When Kayla has free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She is busy with many roles in her life that include wife, mother, sister, daughter, therapist, and friend.
