Kayla Orr, LISW

Kayla Orr is a licensed independent social worker. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Coe College in 2010. While pursuing her Master’s degree she worked at Four Oaks PMIC as a youth counselor. Following obtaining her Master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa she continued employment with Four Oaks as a PMIC therapist working with children, adolescents and their respective families, as well as conducting group therapy work. She has since gone on to work in inpatient psychiatric units within the hospital setting as well as outpatient groups and outpatient individual and family therapy.  She has experience in working with all age groups throughout her 10+ years of clinical work. She has experience with ADHD, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis, parent-child difficulties as well as life transitions.  

Kayla uses a strengths-based client centered approach to collaboratively identify the best treatment for each individual and family she is working with. Kayla is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Solution Focused Therapy, as well as Crisis Intervention. Kayla is currently being trained and supervised to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) .

 When Kayla has free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She is busy with many roles in her life that include wife, mother, sister, daughter, therapist, and friend.
